Yawning Thoughts

Updated: Apr 29, 2021

As I was taking my routine shower, I noticed that I would yawn when I was in direct line of the water. Since my double jaw surgery, I have begun to yawn a lot more in the shower than I used to. And it made me wonder, "why do I keep yawning while I am showering??".

So I did what any curious person would do, and frantically typed into Google my question. And I was shocked to find out that the reason I was yawning so much in the shower was because it was my bodies way of trying to cool down my brain (Prevention). Which makes a lot of sense because I love showering in hot water, and all that direct heat on my head probably makes my brain too overheated.

It's just another sign that I take too hot of showers, as if the fire alarm going off wasn't enough of a sign....

But there's nothing that beats a nice hot shower to end the day. I don't know why but I feel so accomplished when I take a shower. And yes while cold showers have proven to have more health benefits, such as helping you to fight off common illnesses, I find that ending the day with a hot shower is the perfect way to end the day (Healthline).

What I find annoying about the recent increase in yawning is that due to my jaws not being able to open all the way, I can only do short little yawns. Which I feel only increases the amount of yawns I do since I can't do one BIG yawn. I can't wait until I can do a big yawn again. I know that sounds weird but just like a piping hot shower at the end of the day makes me feel good, a successful yawn also makes me feel refreshed.

Have you ever had those yawns where you can feel it coming, but then it goes away? It's like the yawn is like "you better prepare yourself, this is gonna be a big one" and then is like "hahaha, got you!".

Those little bastards can sure be sneaky, them and sneezes. Both are bodily reactions to things, and both can be the most satisfying thing to let out or the most annoying.
