We all in some shape or form like animals. Whether that be looking at them, or owning them. I have owned multiple pets throughout my life. I've had 5 dogs, two cats, and one bird. Currently my family and I have 2 dogs and a cat. Which is not easy when one of the dogs thinks the cat is a chew toy for him to chase. And I am one of those people who is more of a dog lover than cat, but I got to say owning a cat has its perks. Although I feel like with cats, the person who owns the cat are the people who like cats. Other than that cats just seem weird. I've been around other people's cats, and I'm just like "cool it's a cat, that I can't touch or play with unlike a dog". You see I think that's why dogs get sooo much more love. It's because cat's are more personal pets, meaning the owner is the only one that interacts with the pet and therefore is the only person who thinks cats are cool. But on the other hand dogs are so people oriented and are more outgoing. Their playful personality, and adorableness, are what draws so many people towards the dog side of the cat vs dog battle. And I totally agree! I mean dogs can do anything! From grabbing drinks from the fridge, to playing fetch, dogs are the ultimate pet. On the flip side cat's provide the ultimate cuddly times. And they can be pretty funny to watch when they get freaked out or get over excited about a toy. It's actually really funny how a cat runs when it's scared because if they run on hardwood, then they look exactly like the cartoons when they are running in place for a few seconds and then zooom off.
As a person who has a cat, I got to say that cats are nice pets to have. They are easy to maintain, and they don't require as much attention. I think cats are a good pet if you are the type of pet owner who has to work, go to school, or just in general are very busy. With that said, I do not want to own another cat when I grow up. I mean don't get me wrong owning a cat has had it's perks, but if I am at the point where I can commit to a pet, then I want a pet that I can put all of my attention towards. And we all know that cats have volatile emotions. My dream dog that I want is a Gerberian Shepsky, which is a German Shepherd mixed with a Husky.

But in general I just want a big dog. I think big dogs are so cute as puppy's, and if trained right, they can be great family/guard dogs! It's truly the best of both worlds! Well... besides the massive stool that they exert from their bodies, and the bigger expenses. But besides that, big dogs are great pets!
There have been a few times where I have wanted to have another bird, but they require much more maintenance and overall space. My cockatiel that I had required a big cage, and that cage came with big cleaning duties. But the actual bird was nice to have. I would probably get another cockatiel, because while it is a smaller bird, it wasn't as small as a Budgie, but it wasn't as big at a Cockatoo. I think the only reason I would get another bird is if I have a big house where the bird could have its own room. Because I think the space the bird is given can impact he overall experience of owning a bird since birds require big cages, having a bird in a small house or apartment means that the bird ends up taking up a lot of the space. If I had a house where the bird could have its own room, then I would probably get another bird, because they are soooooo cute and have a lot of character. Plus they are trainable like dogs, and require just as much attention.

Other than a cat, dog, or bird, I would not want to own any other pets, such as bunnies, guinea pigs, snakes, spiders, etc. To me those animals are completely pointless. Which I know makes me sound heartless, but I just don't find any purpose to those types of animals. it's not like you can take them for walks, train them as many tricks as dogs or birds, etc. To me those types of animals do not bring as much value as cats, dogs, or birds. I'm sure to the owners of those types of pets they view their pets to be on the same level as dogs, cats, and birds, but to me those types of pets do too little for too much maintenance. For example snakes. Besides scaring the crap out of your friends or showing off to people, snakes just take up space. All they do is slither around and eat stuff. It's like having a roommate but without any of the benefits. You can't go out with the roommate, half the people you introduce your roommate to are scared of it, and you can't do tricks with the roommate. PLUS they just hog food down while leaving messes everywhere. Messes that YOU have to clean up.
So yea in general, I would most likely get a dog (and spoil the heck out of it), likely get a bird, and then least likely get a cat if I were in the market for a pet. For the dog I would definitely put it through training classes, or train it myself, so that it makes for a stronger relationship. I find training to be fun, and can be a great way to bond with your dog while letting the dog know who is in charge. Plus having a perfectly trained dog would be awesome! What about you? What kind of pet do you want?
